JUANITA WARRINER
July 27, 1921 - February 2, 2010
Funeral Services for Juanita "Smithy" Warriner, 88, of Tishomingo will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Milburn, Oklahoma with Rev. Richard Corn officiating. Interment will follow in the Bold Springs Cemetery in the Bold Springs Community. Pallbearers for the service will be: Ron Coppedge, Dallas Boggs, Marvin Smither, Larry Bentley, James Rowland and Larry Cribbs. Honorary Bearers will be: Basil Bigbie, Mark Landrum, Bill Corbin, C. D. Robertson, Jr. and Jack Penner.
Mrs. Warrnier passed away on Tuesday, February 2nd at the Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Juanita was born on July 27, 1921 in the Bold Springs Community near Milburn, to Alvin A. Smith and Mora Palmer Smith. She attended Bold Springs Elementary, graduated from Milburn High School and Murray State School of Agriculture, (now Murray State College). She also attended Harms School of Business in Berkley, California and San Francisco State College on the Santa Rosa, California campus. On October 19, 1960 she married Ernest Warriner in Tucson, Arizona. She had a long career as a secretary and bank officer and after returning to Johnston County in 1977, she retired as cashier from the First State Bank (now Landmark Bank) in Tishomingo. She was a member of Tishomingo Chapter,Order of Eastern Star, serving as chaplain; member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Durant; Past Chapter President and Secretary of Julia Jackson Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Durant and held every office in Johnston County Historical & Genealogical Society since becoming a member in 1978. She was also a member of the Board of Landmark Bank. Juanita served on the Board of Control of the Johnston Memorial Hospital for several years, and on the Board of the Murray State College Foundation. She was a founding member (Secretray) of the Milburn Educational Foundation, and remains a member. She accepted Christ into her life during a summer revival at the Nazarene Church at Fillmore, at the age of 12. While a student at Murray, she joined the First Baptist Church in Tishomingo and at the time of her death, was a member of the Milburn Baptist Church, having served as Church Clerk, Sunday School Secretary, Vacation Bible School Director and a member of the Executive Board.
In addition to her husband, Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Flossie May Smith in 1925 and Wanda Smith Caldwell in 1970; a brother, Thomas F. "Buddy" Smith in 1987.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Rita Stitzel of Nevada; a step-son, Wayne Lund of Oklahoma; a niece, Louise Smith Zimmerman of Milburn; nephews, Wayne Caldwell of Bokchito, OK, Tommy Caldwell of Armstrong, OK and Buddy Gene Smith of Plano Texas; eleven great-nieces & nephews, in include, Rodney, Shannon, Brittany Caldwell, all of Milburn and with whom she enjoyed a grandmother relationship. Also surviving are twelve great-grand-nieces & nephews,and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Milburn Baptist Church, Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, Milburn Educational Foundation, Murray College Foundation, or the Bold Springs Cemetery.
